First Presidential Debate

Last night, MY Jane and I were two of an estimated 100 million people who watched the first Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

In my view, Hillary dominated the debate stage. This has been confirmed by post debate polls by CNN.

She was very “presidential” while Donald was his typical bombastic self.
I think her best line, when Trump criticized her for preparing while he was out talking to the people, was,  “You know what else I prepared for? To be President!”
And, as usual, Trump could not provide any substantive answers to any of the issues up for discussion. And, as usual, he lied over and over again.
Yes, Hillary won this debate hands down. And the electorate had an opportunity to see how both these candidates would behave on the world stage. It’s an opportunity for that same electorate to stop Donald Trump, the most vile individual I have ever seen, from being put in a position that would put everyone, including Canadians, in harms way.

  1. Yes, I watched snippets on my phone and then the debate in its entirety when I got home along with all of the post debate commentary. I scored it a split decision for Hillary. Trump scored with his body blows on trade and her Clinton in trouble. His style presented problems for Clinton early on but he failed to capitalize with any hard shots. Once she settled into her game plan in the mid rounds, Clinton scored with solid jabs like the one you mentioned, a great shot to the head with the Machada annecdote but failed to get a knock out. I thought she racked up enough points to win handily but not enough to live up to her corner's predictions. Her shots were timed, accurate and stinging. Her fight plan was disciplined and she was except for those early rounds, able to stick to her corner's game plan and eventually come away with a win.Trump was out of shape and he failed to capitalize on his body shots, relied to much on an awkward ring style and there was no evidence of any fight plan. Looking forward to a rematch.
