Today there was a tunnel boring machine working on our street to get fibre optic cable available to this area.
It was fascinating to see how they bore horizontally through the ground for long distances. The machine stays in one location and the drill head is monitored from the surface by an operator who follows its progress via a special monitoring device.
Very cool to watch this operation.
