After touring the military museum in Petawawa yesterday, we headed toward Barry’s Bay on the Opeongo Line. We checked out the ghost town of Balaclava where we talked with one of the three residents who to,d us about the abandoned sawmill.

After that it was more of following the Opeongo line toward Barry’s Bay where we stayed at the Mountainview Inn which turned out be a rather dingy and dull facility, not one that we would recommend.
We had dinner at the Wilno Tavern and Pub and next morning we headed to Barrie. We did get a Timmy’s at Barry’s Bay and then headed through Algonquin Park on Hwy 60. Jane took this photo of the fog over the water off in the distance.

Home around noon. Good trip but nice to be back.
