Yesterday, Rob from Affordable Comfort came to address our fireplace issue. He was going to begin dismantling the vent, a huge and expensive proposition.
However, he decided to try lighting the fireplace one more time and doing a burn test. It looked good until he stuck his hand under the burner and jiggled a gas line. That’s when the pilot light went out again.
Turns out there was a loose nut on the thermocouple from the installation last May.
Once he tightened that, it seemed to work well and the pilot light is staying on.
Saved me a big bill.
