I had a look at Allan’s damaged table and concluded that it would have to be sanded right down to the bare wood to restore it.
It took about 45 minutes, after which I re-stained it and then this afternoon, I put a coat of varathane on it. The grain is coming through beautifully!
One more coat and it’ll be like new. I think that they will be happy.
