Minnie

MY Jane and I have become a little concerned about Minnie. We have noticed a deterioration in her activity in the last while. She used to come up from the Family Room to greet me first thing every morning, but now she rarely comes upstairs. And when she does, she seems to have some difficulty getting around. She’s very slow. Understandable since she is twenty or twenty one years old.

The other day, with the temperature above zero, I shovelled snow off the deck in order to take Minnie outside for a bit. After all, she is an outdoor cat. But as soon as I put her down, she headed for the door, wanting back inside.

We have called a vet to come to the house to do an assessment on her health. Cats are known to mask pain and we want to make sure this isn’t the case with her.

The vet, Dr. Moffat, and a technician, Crystal, arrived and did an examination of Minnie and took a blood sample on which they will run tests with the results available this afternoon. They were wonderful with Minnie.

They even trimmed Minnie’s nails which our previous vet was unable to do without sedating her.

The vet seems to think that we should provide Minnie with some pain medication to ensure she is comfortable. We will pick up the prescription after they have the blood results.
