Our pet, Minnie, and the neighbourhood birds keep us busy. Every morning, while having my coffee, a Robin has been showing up regularly looking for craisins. They have to be cut into smaller pieces so it can swallow them. That’s the start of it.
Then there’s the Blue Jays looking for peanuts in the shell and squirrels who compete with the Jays for them.
And, of course, Minnie shows up looking for her morning treat of Temptations and if, her food is low, she will sit in front of the bowl looking up at me as if to say, “Hey! Put some more food down, eh!”
In fact, this morning, I realized we were all out of regular food for Minnie, so I stopped in at Pet Valu to pick up her favourite Senior formula cat food. When I walked into the store, there was a cashier sitting in a play pen and when I asked what she was doing, she said she was in jail and I could help bail her out by buying a pet toy for an animal rescue charity.
