Visit with Burdie

Yesterday my very good friend, Jim Burd, drove down from Midland and we had lunch together. Jim brought a bottle of  cranberry wine and a Christmas plant, a very thoughtful gesture. Along with the lunch was a lot of conversation.
Jim is a boyhood friend that I used to chum around with up in Temiscaming. That was In our teens. He used to be known as Burdie back then. I was referred to as “Pick”.
After lunch we played darts and continued with our reminiscing, both of marvelling at the fact that we are still alive after some of the stupid things we did back then.
After leaving Temiscaming, Jim and I lost touch with each other for many many years, only reconnecting a couple of years ago through Facebook. That boyhood friendship has been rekindled and we speak on the phone often and have face to face visits whenever we can.
Years ago our main topic of conversation usually was about how much beer we needed for the weekend….nowadays we find ourselves talking about what different meds we have to take and how bad our arthritis is.
It’s always great to visit with Jim. We enjoy each other’s company and have a lot of fun reminding each other of things that we did up there in good old Trmiscaming.
