Inconsequential Goals that are Fun

Do ever set little daily goals for yourself? I’m talking about little inconsequential objectives like trying to guess how many grocery bags to take into the supermarket when you don’t have a list….or even if you do have a list.

Jane and I do it all the time. Usually we are pretty close, but sometimes we can go in with just one bag and, before you know it, we have a large shopping cart full.
Then when we get home, I have another goal. I always try to get all the grocery bags into the house in one trip.
I have another little goal whenever we go through the Tim Hortons Drive Through. I try to anticipate every single question the cashier might ask including, “Is there anything else?”

My goal is to answer all these questions in advance. I know I have done it right if, after placing my order, I get, “That’s $1.70. Drive up please.” And I say thank you. See, if I don’t get any questions after placing my order, I win.
Sometimes, though, you get a cashier who just has to ask one more question even though you have given all the info needed right off the top. If that happens, you lose. Try it sometime at any kind of take out or fast food outlet. It’s not as easy to win as you think.
