Something Jane and I have noticed over the last while is that, whenever we go in or out of the laundry room, we have both hands full. Either we are taking laundry baskets in or laundry baskets out. So it makes it awkward to turn the lights on in there.
What to do? A motion sensor might work. Off to Lowes. I had to get another exterior timer for the Christmas lights anyway.
Sure enough, they had exactly what I was looking for, and it only cost about $20.
It took me maybe 20 minutes to install and was quite easy to do. It also has different settings on it for sensitivity to motion and how long the lights will stay on after you leave the room. I set this one for 1 minute.

I have one of these for my renting house.. works great at stair ways so they don't leave the light on all day/night
