Yesterday we carved a pumpkin in readiness for the Halloween trick or treaters last night. Steven came up with the idea of having a moving eye ball for the pumpkin. Because his hand was in a cast, I was delegated the task of carving the thing. Something I have not done for about 25 years. Steven assumed the role of supervisor. Here he’s giving me some motivation.
We got the inside hollowed out, saving the pumpkin seeds for roasting. They were delicious, by the way. After some trial and error, we got it so my eye phone (with the moving eye ball) was properly placed inside the pumpkin.
We ended up with a pretty neat pumpkin. In fact, when the kids came up,to the front door, many of them commented on how cool the eyeball looked. We also had some scary Halloween music playing at the same time. At one point, Jane put on that ugly zombie mask, hid behind the porch pillar and scared an unsuspecting trick or treater.
Quite fun.
Here’s a video of the approach to our pumpkin.
