Yesterday I wrote about the new camp cot I purchased after our neighbour, Allan, came over to show me the one he had bought in preparation for our camping trip in August. I was impressed enough to buy two identical cots, one for me and one for MY Jane.
I wanted to test it out, so I set up our tent in the back yard and put the new cot and sleeping bag inside.
Last night I slept there. Jane declined to join me prompting suggestions from friends like Neil Campbell and David Blackburn that I was in the “doghouse”. LOL.
I had a very good sleep. I was warm and the cot is quite comfortable and wide enough that you can turn on one side or the other with no problem. It has a little pocket on the side for glasses and I phone and it’s very easy to set up and take down. We’ll be using these, I think, instead of the inflatable queen size air mattress from now on.
At about 6:10 this morning, my usual time to awaken, I heard a meowing outside the tent. I knew it was Minnie (she usually wants out around this time), so I called out to her and she poked her little head through the bottom of the tent flap and came inside.
She’s used to jumping up on our bed inside but, this morning, when she jumped up beside me, she found very little room to sprawl out so she very quickly jumped back down.
Like a petulant child, she then left the tent and went to the back door of the house meowing persistently to get back inside. Four or five times she was in and out of the tent, meowing the whole while, until I finally gave in and opened the back door for her.
