Yesterday afternoon, MY Jane and I decided to take a trip down to Toronto to watch Chris play some baseball. I had been wanting to do this for a while. He and his friends belong to a local league and we thought it would be fun to surprise him by showing up. By coincidence, Tonya and a couple of her girlfriends were going as well.
Here’s the link to a little clip of Chris getting one of his many hits of the night. Needless to say, his team won handily.
For Jane, it was a little bit of a trip down memory lane. This is the area that she lived in for many years and because several of Chris’ boyhood friends play on the same team, she was able to get a bit up to date.
Ryan Bozz, Dan Tong, Colin Mercer and Richard Coulter were there….all of them friends with Chris since elementary school and who used to hang around the house a lot. It was nice for me to get to talk a bit with some of them too.
Tonya’s friend, Maria was there when we arrived, so Chris had a little bit of a cheering section.
Kirsten, another of Tonya’s friends, joined us a little later.
Brad Dion’s Dad, Brian, was the Umpire and Jane had not seen him for sometime either. Brad is another of Chris’ close friends, most of whom will be groomsmen at his wedding next year.
After the game, we were invited to join everyone at a local pub, but we had to head back to Barrie. Next time. Great fun!
