Easy? Jobs

Yesterday, after installing drawers on my mobile work station, MY Jane asked me if I could do a few things for her. I installed a light fixture in our walk in closet to replace the bare ligt bulb that was there. I added some shelves in the linen closet. Then I made her a little wooden step stool so she could reach the high stuff in the closet which will just stay in there. All easy little jobs.🔨🔩

Then I decided to tackle the bathroom sink drain. The sink was draining very slowly and it was bugging me. No problem, I thought. I”ll just unscrew the clean out trap and it’ll be done.
Well, the clean out trap would not budge so I then tried to loosen the pipe connections but, despite being able to totally unscrew the connectors, the plastic pipe would not budge either. I suspect plumbers glue was used. I finally managed to get the pipe from the sink itself disconnected only to find that, whoever installed it – the SOB – had made his own version of a connection.

Down to Home Hardware for advice and was told to just buy a complete new drain. Done. Then back home and got that put in but there was still a bit of a leak at one of the connections but I got that fixed this morning. How many times have you tackled an “easy” job only to have it turn into a major project?

And also, I somehow manage to chip the porcelain in the sink, probably by dropping a wrench on it so today, I’ll be fixing that!

Isn’t retirement grand?
