It’s been awhile since I took the time to read a book. When we were away in Antigua, I had the opportunity to enjoy a quiet read of a book that MY Jane gave me for Christmas. It’s called Common Ground and its author, Justin Trudeau, chronicles some of his life’s highlights and provides a window of insight into his core values.
I have always subscribed to the axiom, “Actions speak louder than words.” and Trudeau has done a few things already that demonstrate that. For example, while others are talking non-stop about Senate reform and doing nothing, he eliminated Liberal Senators from the Liberal Caucus. He showed real leadership in doing this, something sadly lacking with the other parties.
There are critics who say he doesn’t have the political experience to be Canada’s Primer Minister. But experience can be looked at in different ways. Someone can have ten years experience, but it may be that it really consists of the same one year ten times over. Is that the type of experience we are looking for? I think not.
After reading his book, I am impressed by his honesty and examples of good judgement that he has demonstrated. I would recommend this book as a good read and, if you’re not thinking about him as our next Prime Minister, this book may help you re-consider.

I tend to shy away from autobiographies but I might make an exception in this case.
